About Michelle

Get to Know Me
What’s your background? How did you get in this field?
I am a UI Designer with a background in Mechanical Engineering. Before becoming a UI Designer, I held positions as a Systems Engineer and Patent Examiner. Both experiences allowed me to work on my customer service, research, and problem-solving skills. After my last role ended, I decided to pursue roles that allowed for more creative freedom when solving problems. This led me to pursue a certification in User Interface Design at CareerFoundry. Once I completed that program, I then completed a Frontend Development course through the same school. Now I seek opportunities to build on the foundation built through the certification programs with more real-world projects and experience related to UI/UX Design or Product Design.
What are your interests in the field?
I enjoy designing the interfaces for websites and apps, as well as creating prototypes for user testing. I also enjoy brand design and iconography. I look forward to sharpening these skills in my next role/project.
What opportunities are you looking for?
I am currently available for full-time and/or freelance opportunities as a UI Designer. I am also interested in positions that incorporate some Frontend Development.
How do you spend your free time?
I love listening to NPR podcasts. Some of my favorites include How I Built This, Invisibilia, and Throughline. I also try to read mystery books whenever I can. As a creative at heart, I enjoy painting, drawing, and creating digital art. I even started an Instagram to showcase some of my latest pieces. Check out my profile links below if you’d like!
